Hello beautiful soul,
Last year my nieces and nephews were together in a room – and of course - they wouldn’t sleep.
I decided to play one of those games I loved as a kid: what would you have in your dream house? Suddenly there were gummy bear slides, trampolines in the living room and walls made of chocolate.
As an auntie, it was a very bad move.
But as human with a wild imagination, I loved it.
And it got me thinking about how pure everything felt at that age.
When you’re a kid and you think about your dream house you don’t say: that’s not possible for me. You say - add a bed made out of marshmallows.
While I’ve grown out of that stage (it’s Egyptian cotton sheets, a log burner and ocean view over here) the last few years have taught me something: I get to dream, go after what I want, then dream bigger.
And this has been a journey.
If you asked me ten years ago what I wanted I probably would have said ‘to be a writer’ but I didn’t believe I could make things happen.
Here’s why: we get conditioned out of our dreaming
Society tells us that life has to be hard and we should expect disappointment – can’t be that good.
So, we start settling.
It’s not to say that financial planning isn’t important, or that there isn’t a tremendous amount of beauty in simple things.
It is to say we get to dream.
We get to desire more.
And here’s a big reason why we resist it: our bodies say no.
It doesn’t feel safe in our nervous system to believe that we are powerful and can have anything we want, because at some point (likely in childhood) life taught us otherwise.
A nervous-system response can manifest as anxiety, deep discomfort or even panic attacks. Biologically, we think we’re under threat and that we might even die.
I know because in the last eighteen months - when I packed up my life in Scotland, drove to Lisbon and up-levelled my life in ways I could never have foreseen – I experienced it over and over.
Oftentimes we use this as a sign to back off.
And, it’s just a reaction.
The shift comes when we bring ourselves to safety and keep going.
Which exactly what I’m teaching What if I can? a free masterclass that will show you how to make this internal shift.
This isn’t about airy-fairy unrealistic thinking.
It isn’t even about courage.
It’s about the fact that we get to do life once and nothing is out of reach.
Over 75 minutes you’ll learn how to work with your fear and the secret to programming ‘I can’ into your nervous system.
If you’re ready for life to change – on any level – you don’t want to miss this.
Thanks for being here and being you. Here’s to dreaming big, this weekend and beyond ✨
With so much love and encouragement,
Jo
